In 2024, Vistabeam will expand its internet services to the community of Oshkosh, Nebraska, with a new fiber optic network. Thanks to the efforts of James Bondegard, this endeavor is now becoming a reality.
Nestled on the fringes of the Nebraska panhandle, Oshkosh has long grappled with inadequate access to high-speed broadband internet, leaving its residents and businesses underserved. Addressing this gap has been a mission close to the heart of James Bondegard, the City Administrator of Oshkosh, Nebraska. A staunch advocate for broadband accessibility, Bondegard championed the cause of bringing robust internet to the community.
Bondegard was pivotal in supporting Vistabeam's successful grant application to the Nebraska Broadband Bridge Program, a crucial step in facilitating the deployment of a cutting-edge fiber optic broadband network across Oshkosh. His backing significantly expedited Vistabeam's quest to secure the necessary grant, valued at $1.1 million, to realize this project.
The project construction will commence in late 2023, with an estimated completion in mid-2024. This impending completion promises to extend high-speed broadband access to hundreds of residents and businesses in Oshkosh, marking a momentous step forward for the community.
Recognizing his exceptional dedication, Vistabeam has honored Bondegard with the prestigious Broadband Champion Award, celebrating his tireless commitment to enhancing broadband connectivity in the region.
