Expanding Internet Access in Banner County, Nebraska
Banner County, Nebraska: Robert Post
Robert Post receiving Vistabeam's Broadband Champion Award
In December 2020, Vistabeam expanded its internet services to the community of Banner County, Nebraska. The person who brought the project to life was Robert Post.
Though located directly south of Scotts Bluff County, Banner County does not share a similar population size to its neighboring county. Being sparsely populated, Banner County has long been underserved with high-speed internet.
As such, Robert Post, a Banner County Commissioner, became a huge broadband advocate and worked tirelessly towards bringing broadband internet access to Banner County residents. Robert helped secure a grant from the State of Nebraska that enabled us to add a tower to broaden coverage and free up our heavily loaded system, allowing further expansion in the area. Robert’s efforts were instrumental and enabled Vistabeam to invest $183,000 in the project.
Robert’s support for Vistabeam opened up broadband internet access to several hundred residents and businesses in Banner County, Nebraska. For this reason, Vistabeam awarded Robert with the Broadband Champion Award designated for his commitment to ensuring the availability of quality broadband internet in his community.
As part of Vistabeam’s commitment to expanding services throughout rural Nebraska, Colorado, and Wyoming, we have instituted the Broadband Champion Award to encourage community members to advocate for internet connection for their community. Today, broadband internet should be considered an essential utility like water and gas. We strive to make this a reality through initiatives like our community partnerships.
