As we look back over the year at Vistabeam, we are extremely proud of the growth and accomplishments our team has been able to achieve in delivering extraordinary internet experiences to unserved and underserved customers!
Speed & Capacity
Following our CAF2 subsidies award in 2018, plans were made to install new broadband facilities in Colorado and Wyoming over the course of 2019. In January we began deploying new fixed wireless systems that deliver higher speeds, provide more customer capacity, and have the ability to pass through trees. Over the course of the year, we installed 132 new distribution points, upgraded hundreds of miles of microwave backhaul connections, and added more fiber backhaul capacity so we could deliver faster speeds to more people across our entire service area.
Reliability
In addition to delivering high speed internet, superior reliability is a cornerstone of Vistabeam service so installing new backup generators and high-capacity battery backups was a large part of our workload in 2019. Between the “bomb cyclone” in the spring, numerous lightning storms during the summer, and the wet snow in November that snapped hundreds of power poles, our crews faced many challenges over the year. We are very proud of the work done by our infrastructure crews, who braved harsh weather conditions and worked hundreds of hours of overtime to keep the bits flowing.
An Extraordinary Team
It takes an entire team to provide Extraordinary Connections. During 2019, our office staff went above and beyond to deliver an extraordinary customer experience. Our team members have become known for treating customers with genuine respect. They truly do their best to deliver individualized, helpful service to each customer.
We have big plans on the horizon for 2020 and a lot of work to do. We will continue to push as hard as we can to upgrade all our customers to the new systems and bring Vistabeam to more people in unserved and underserved areas. Best wishes to you for a happy and prosperous 2020!
