Expanding Internet Access in Walden, Colorado

In July 2020, Vistabeam upgraded its internet services in the community of Walden, Colorado, and the surrounding areas of Jackson County. The person who was at the forefront of the project was Dan Manville.

Dan and his wife Kathy were Vistabeam customers in Western Nebraska before moving to Walden, Colorado in 2017. At the time they arrived, high-speed Internet was scarce in Walden, Colorado. With just a few locations in and around town able to access low-speed DSL service, it is understandable that broadband internet in Walden and the surrounding areas of Jackson County were mostly unserved.

Dan approached Vistabeam to help resolve the broadband internet access issues in Walden, Colorado and helped devise a plan for Vistabeam to extend its network from Laramie, Wyoming into Walden to bring Jackson County competitive options for broadband internet.

After the initial deployment, Dan, who is the Chair Commissioner of Jackson County, Colorado, and his fellow County Commissioners, provided letters of support and backing for Vistabeam to apply for a grant from the Colorado Broadband Fund to provide internet coverage to more than 600 households in Walden, Colorado. These measures were crucial and enabled Vistabeam to invest $250,000 in the project, speeding up its delivery. 

Dan’s support for Vistabeam enabled several hundred families and businesses to get better broadband internet in Walden, Colorado and the surrounding areas of Jackson County. As such, Vistabeam has awarded Dan with the Broadband Champion Award designated for his commitment to ensuring the availability of quality broadband internet in Walden, Colorado.

As part of our commitment to expand internet services throughout rural Colorado, Nebraska, and Wyoming, Vistabeam introduced the Broadband Champion Award to encourage local advocacy for internet connection in underserved communities. Walden and the surrounding areas of Jackson County, Colorado struggled with receiving quality broadband service in the past. However, thanks to Dan, who exemplifies quality leadership with extraordinary impacts, the Jackson County, Colorado community can now enjoy high-speed internet.

With this new digital era where broadband internet has transformed communication, quality of life, and more, Dan’s help expanding to Walden and Jackson County was crucial.
